We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:
- "Lack of sidewalks and adequate street lighting in some areas, even on some fairly busy roads. Maple Avenue for instance. Lack of bike routes, given the concentration of our town center an investment in pedestrian/bike access would be huge."
- "I live on the Pike, and I would say speeding."
- "The fighting at the community center and other activities that go on at there at night."
- "People not stopping at stop signs on Cushmore Road and Rozel, Speeding as well"
- "Potholes on Gravel Hill!"
- "Cars speeding through neighborhoods and not stopping at stop signs."
- "People cutting through and speeding down our residential streets, which is made much worse by the lack of sidewalks, bike routes, & adequate lighting. And so many people parking on the street, when we have driveways. It's extremely dangerous, especially for our children, to ride bikes anywhere in this town."
- "Speeding on 2nd Street Pike."
- "The water smells a lot more like chlorine than our pool does."
- "There is no truly safe way to ride a bike into town as it is now."
