WILLOW DALE STUDENTS SUPPORT MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY OF SERVICE

Students Honor MLK Legacy and Strive to Make a Difference in the Community

WARMINSTER---More than 50 years ago, Martin Luther King, Jr., captivated the nation when he delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. His words and dream of peace and concern for the plight of others live on in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. Willow Dale Elementary School students will honor Dr. King’s legacy by participating in the Cradles to Crayons collection program that runs until January 19, 2015. Willow Dale students and families are donating clothing and supplies to the organization, as well as packing and delivering the bundles on January 19.

How to Participate

Cradles to Crayons is an organization that provides essential clothing and supplies to low-income and homeless children to ensure that they are safe, warm, valued, and ready to learn. The organization accepts quality items that have been well maintained and distributes the items among its clients. While new items are gladly accepted, used clothing in good condition, safe baby equipment, unopened school supplies and more, are examples of the types of donations accepted. For more information about items that are most needed, go to http://www.cradlestocrayons.org/philadelphia.

In addition to contributions, volunteers are needed to sort and bag the items at Willow Dale Elementary School on January 19, from 9:00 AM until 12 noon. Drivers can also sign up to transport the bundles to the Cradles to Crayons warehouse in Conshohocken on January 19. Volunteers should contact Haidy Kerber at kerbha@centennialsd.org.

“It is uplifting to know that even our youngest students are involved in this project and excited to show what they can do on behalf of others to help improve their lives,” said Superintendent Joyce Mundy.

Where to Donate

Donations may be dropped off in the front lobby of Willow Dale Elementary School and placed in the specially marked containers. Donations should be received by January 19, 2015. Willow Dale Elementary School is located at 720 Norristown Road, Warminster, PA.
