4 USC Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
The four will advance in the competition for the scholarships.
UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Four Upper St. Clair High School seniors were recently named semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Competition, finishing in the top one percent of all juniors completing the PSAT in October 2017: Reese A. Benonis, Samuel Ding, Serena Luo and Grace A. Wagner.
“Earning National Merit Finalist status is no easy task,” Upper St. Clair High School principal Lou Angelo said in a district release. “We are proud of these four students and the tremendous work they have put forth throughout their academic careers.”
The four will continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered next spring. To be considered for the award, semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application that highlights academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received.
