Globalization has given Asia increasing economic strength and competitiveness in the United States of American. Amercan businesses are deeply involved inThailand. Based on the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, more
than five hundred major American companies are doing business and having offices in Thailand such as 3M, American Express, Ann Taylor, Bank of America, Bank of New York, Bloomberg, Bristol-Myers, Cargill, Caterpillar, Cisco, Citibank, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, DHL, Dow Chemical, Dow Corning, Du Pont, Eli Lily, EMC, FedEx, Ford, GE, General Motors, Goodyear, Hallmark Cards, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan, Kellogg, Kodak, Kimberly-Clark, Kraft Foods, Lucent Technologies, Marriott International, McKinsey & Company, Inc. Microsoft, NCR, Nike Inc., Oracle Corp., PPG, Pepsi, Pfizer, Philip Morris, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Procter & Gamble, Prudential, Seagate Technology, Starbucks Coffee, UPS, Western Digital, etc...There are not enough Americans who can communicate effectively in Asia, especially in Thailand. Upper St. Clair School District is preparing our students to be knowledgeable about Asia, especially Thailand through the Thai-USA Student Cultural Exchange Program.You can be part of this program by hosting Thai students who are coming to Upper St. Clair as part of the exchange program.

Site Visits in Lancaster, Harrisburg and Washington DC 5 days (Friday, April 19, 2013 to Tuesday, April 23, 2013 )
BENEFITS OF BEING A HOST FAMILY:

another culture in depth, Increase understanding of the importance of globalization, Share and teach Thai students about American Culture, Expose your children and family to a different viewpoint and ideas, Provide support for continuity of the Thai-USA Exchange Program, Network with other host families, Receive an appreciation check of $350 per Thai student- Recommend to host 2 Thai students per family ( two Thai students can share the same bedroom) , Free Bowling and Pizza at AMF ( 1 person per family value = $15), Receive Thai cook book or Thai/Asian book (Value $10-$30 ), Receive two VIP Tickets for Thai dinner at Thai Night Gala (Value = $ 30 ).The above financial benefits cannot be converted into an “all cash payment” due to the importance of many of these activities
to the Thai program.
Special arrangements can be made to fit your convenience, needs, and schedule as a host family. Transportation and living arrangement are available in case any host families must leave town during the program duration, a stand – by family will care for your Thai students. Arrangements can be made for pick-up and drop off when after school activities for your Thai students are finished for the day. The program is designed with special activities for Thai students to stay at school until 5:00 pm for the majority of days in the program.
