Stop offering Goldfish as a prize at Upper St. Clair Community Day

Stop offering Goldfish as a prize at Community Day

I hope the committee who organizes community day in Upper St. Clair no longer allows goldfish as a prize.  MANY of them were "released" into the creek just hours after being "won".  These fish come from Asia and carry many diseases.  Most will be eaten by local wildlife which can introduce diseases into our ecosystem.  Additionally, how may of my USC friend's kids "won' goldfish at community day?  Are they all dead now?  90% probably are because "Goldfish are kept in poor conditions at fairgrounds and are often no better once they are in prize winners’ hands. Goldfish need to be kept in large, well-oxygenated aquarium or, ideally, a large pond not in plastic bags with very little water. While Goldfish are capable of reaching over 18 inches in length and living for 20 years or more, most unfortunately meet their death before they even make it to a bowl". Stop allowing Goldfish as prizes.  It's just cruel.
