Cucumber Recall Affects Market District South Hills

Throw any cucumbers bought before May 16 away due to possible salmonella contamination.

In the midst of Memorial Day weekend cookouts and picnics, a cucumber recall affecting local grocery stores due to possible salmonella poisoning.

A employee advises customers to throw away any cucumbers purchased before May 16.

The recall only affects regular cucumbers, not any mini or seedless.

She said as soon as Market District found out about the possible contamination, employees threw out the affected cucumbers. She is not aware of any customers who bought the possibly tainted vegetables.

The recalled cucumbers come from C.W. Hendrix Farms Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla. which distributed the vegetables from its facility from May 6-13.

According to the Market District, the produce for sale at this time has been distributed from an alternative manufacturer and is safe to eat.
