Dog Saves Upper St. Clair Family By Alerting Them To House Fire

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA — Were it not for an attentive dog, the results could have been catastrophic when a fire broke out at a home on the 1400 block of Old Meadow Road early Wednesday.

The fire erupted at around 4:30 a.m. The family was alerted to the blaze by the family dog, Upper St. Clair fire chief Ted Hale told WTAE-TV and WPXI-TV.

Two adults, a child and the canine got out of the home safely.

Fire companies from Allegheny and Washington counties responded to the fire. The residence suffered extensive damage.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
