Duquesne University Honors USC Special Ed Teacher

Christy Mikolaj wins two impressive awards from the university.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Boyce Middle School special education teacher Christy Mikolaj has won two awards from Duquesne University’s Educational Leadership Program. The doctoral candidate recently received the Horton Coe Southworth Award and Scholarship, as well as the Mind, Heart and Spirit of Educational Leadership Award.

The Southworth Award is named after the late Horton Coe Southworth, who helped launch Duquesne’s doctoral education program in 1993. The peer-selected educational leadership award is presented annually to second-degree doctoral program candidates displaying educational leadership engaging the mind, heart and spirit

“Receiving this award from the faculty and peers of the Educational Leadership cohort was an honor,” Mikolaj said. “Without the inspirational leaders from the Duquesne University School of Education staff, my Duquesne University cohort and my leadership mentors at Upper St. Clair, I would not have achieved this honor.”
