Grammy Award Winning Organist Paul Jacobs to Perform

The Music & Arts Series of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair presents Grammy Award winning organist Paul Jacobs on Friday, August 19, at 7:30 p.m. The concert celebrates the 20th anniversary of the church’s Austin pipe organ. Suggested donation: $10

An internationally acclaimed organist and native of Washington, PA, Paul Jacobs returns to the church where he played his remarkable 18 hours of Bach in 2000 to mark the 250th year of the composer’s death. Jacobs, now head of the organ department at The Julliard School, recently won the first Grammy for a solo organ recording (Olivier Messiaen’s β€œLivre du Saint Sacrement”). The New York Times describes Jacobs as a β€œbrilliant young organist and evangelist for the instrument.” Jacobs, who has said that β€œmusic should be played in a manner that stirs the soul,” excels at communicating his love of music and his mastery of the organ to audiences of all ages.

Westminster’s Music & Arts Series presents a variety of concerts throughout the year. Exhibits of visual art are open in the church’s galleries after each program. More information can be found at www.westminster-church.org.
