Foreign Exchange: USC District Plans Thai-Themed Gala
The Upper St. Clair District will celebrate Thai culture with visiting students from Thailand.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The Upper St. Clair School District is preparing to Thai one on. The district next week will hold its 12th annual Thai Night Gala, a celebration of Thai culture by the high school’s exchange students.
The event, which features stage performances, demonstrations, children’s games, exhibits and a marketplace, takes place from May 6 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Boyce Middle School. Admission is free, although there is a charge to attend a dinner featuring Thai cuisine. Dinner tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. There’s no charge for children under age 3.
Thai exchange students are staying with host families in the township while on a month-long visit to America. Their stay is part of the Thai-USA Student Cultural Exchange Program established in 2005 so students of the two nations could cultivate an appreciation of their respective cultures. Since then, nearly 1,500 students and teachers from Thailand and Upper St. Clair High School as well as township residents have participated in the program.
