Hearing Continued for USC Mother Charged With Giving Alcohol to Minors

After the lawyer representing the Allegheny County District Attorney's office and the lawyer representing Cynthia Simpson met on Monday, it was decided to continue the preliminary hearing for the Upper St. Clair mother charged with selling or furnishing alcohol to minors and corruption of minors.

Upper St. Clair police stated in a criminal complaint filed with that they found Simpson in physical control of the her house located on 2625 Sunnyfield Drive where an underage drinking party was allegedly going on.

Police stated in the complaint that they found more than 20 juveniles, a marijuana pipe, and half full and empty cases of beer in the yard.

According to the complaint, Simpson denied knowledge of the party and told police she provided orange soda for the party, none of which police could find on the property.

Simpson's 16-year-old son told police he was hosting the party with his friends, police stated in the complaint.

The hearing was continued for Oct. 17.

Also Continued
The preliminary hearing for Stephanie Lieb, 20, of 1304 Rockland Ave., was continued for a second time.

Lieb has already paid $500 in restitution and must pay another $500 within 45 days.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Upper St. Clair police, Lieb is accused of stealing a gold-and-diamond ring worth $1,500 from a home on Hollowtree Drive while she and her mom were cleaning the home. Officers stated she sold the ring for $170 to buy drugs.
