JEFFERY LAYMAN OF PITTSBURGH NAMED TO U.S. TEAM TO COMPETE AT ITF YOUNG SENIORS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TURKEY

U.S. Sending 24 Athletes to Participate in Inaugural International Team Competition

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., March 6, 2015 – The USTA has announced that Jeffrey Layman of Pittsburgh is among the 24 players who will represent the United States at the inaugural ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the senior equivalent of tennis’ Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions. The 24 American athletes will be competing against players from 25 other countries.
The ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships is the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories of 35-45, and will be held from March 16- 29 in Antalya, Turkey. Prior to this year, these championships had been part of the ITF Seniors World Team Championships.
Layman, who is the General Manager and Director of Tennis at the Lakevue Athletic Club in Valencia, Pa., outside of Pittsburgh, will play for the Dubler Cup on the Men’s 45-and-Over team. He was a 2013 finalist at the USTA National Grasscourts and Indoors.
American teams will be defending titles in the Margaret Court Cup (Women’s 45) for third consecutive year, and the Dubler Cup (Men’s 45).
Following the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will be held from March 16-29.
