The View will become a greater example of trash television when the brash, coarse, undignified Jenny McCarthy joins the panel this fall, an unfortunate sign of our times, the era in which whatever is crude sells.

Miss McCarthy is best known as a buxom former Playboy Playmate, not one that is capable of intelligently opining upon issues of the day.

Barbara Walters, the grande dame of broadcast journalism, announced the appointment of the new pundit.  She should be ashamed.
