Local Therapist to Offer Video Counseling
Joan Kaylor, MSEd, LPC, DCEP, ACP-EFT, Contracts with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in 2015

A Peters Township therapist will add video counseling to her menu of services in 2015. Joan Kaylor, MSEd, LPC, DCEP, ACP-EFT, has contracted with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield to offer video counseling to patients with this type of insurance.
“Video counseling is an especially useful tool for families and individuals who may have a hard time traveling due to conditions such as agoraphobia (fear of leaving the house), severe anxiety, distance, weather, or who may be suffering from a physical illness,” Kaylor said. “It also may help individuals who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder and who cannot find another expert who is local to them, or someone who lives in a rural area and cannot gain access to certain energy therapies, such as Emotional Freedom Techniques.”
Video counseling employs the use of a webcam and a computer, through which the therapist and the patient can see and speak to each other through a secure HIPAA-compliant website.

“I advise patients to first check with their insurance to ensure they have this type of coverage, as not all insurance plans do,” noted Kaylor, who is a Diplomate in Comprehensive Energy Psychology and holds an advanced certification in Emotional Freedom Techniques.
