Two Upper St. Clair Students Win Skating Honors
Freshman Dana Loomis and senior Callie Jardine fared well in recent Michigan competition.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Two Upper Saint Clair High School students collectively earned six individual medals, a Compulsory A Team Event bronze medal, the Team Spirit Award and a national team championship at the recent High School National Figure Skating Finals in Dearborn, Michigan.
Freshman Dana Loomis and senior Callie Jardine won the awards as members of the Western Pennsylvania High School Figure Skating Team, which is comprised of students from the Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park, Mt. Lebanon, North Allegheny and South Park districts.
Loomis earned gold medals in Intermediate Ladies Free Skate and Intermediate Ladies Short Program; a silver medal in Bronze Solo Dance; and a bronze medal in the Pre-Silver Solo Dance event.
Jardine earned gold medals for her first place finishes in the Novice Dramatic Showcase and Junior Moves in the Field categories.

Head coach Sharon Brooks said she was proudest of the team spirit award.
“Our team represented the most enthusiasm and best sportsmanship shown to each other and all the attending teams at this national event,” she said. “They represented Western Pennsylvania with maturity.”
The 2017 High School National Finals were sanctioned by United States Figure Skating.
