Upper St. Clair Details Plans For Community Pep Rally

The third annual pep rally will provide an opportunity to get needy students the supplies they need for the new school year.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Summer is in full swing at the moment, but it won't be long before school is back in session. Plans already have been released for the Upper St. Clair School Districts third annual community pep rally, which will be held Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at the high school stadium.

The free event will include a variety of competitions among the Upper St. Clair High School fall varsity sports teams including girls’ and boys’ cross country, golf and soccer; football; girls’ volleyball; girls’ tennis; field hockey; cheerleading; band; dance; hip hop; ice hockey and rowing. Events will include the limbo, a pie eating contest, tug-of-war, field goal kicking contest and more.

District athletic director Kevin Deitrick will present the Upper St. Clair Academic Panther Cup to the varsity team that achieved the highest GPA during the 2018-19 academic year. Last year’s winner was the girls’ golf team with an average GPA of 3.85.

In addition to friendly team competitions, the event will feature performances by the Upper St. Clair High School marching band, hip hop, dance teams and cheerleading teams as well as an appearance by the panther mascot.

Attendees are asked to support The Education Partnership, a local nonprofit that provides school supplies to students and classrooms in need, by dropping off donations of back-to-school supplies. Pencils, 24-pack crayons, eight-pack markers, colored pencils, one subject spiral notebooks, standard glue sticks, scissors, two-pocket folders, 150 sheet filler paper packs, copy paper (500 sheets per ream), scotch tape, cap erasers, jumbo erasers and pencil sharpeners are among the most needed supplies. Backpacks also are needed.

Donation boxes will be located at stadium entrances throughout the event. Click here to download the list of 13 most-needed school supplies.

The Kona Ice Truck will be on hand selling refreshments. Panther fans can also purchase 2019-20 USC athletic passes at the event.
