Upper St. Clair High School Fall Play A Wilde One

Students to stage the Oscar Wilde classic "The Importance of Being Earnest."

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Upper St. Clair High School will stage the Oscar Wilde classic “The Importance of Being Earnest” as its fall play.

The most renowned of Wilde’s comedies tells the story of two bachelors who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggles to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure. The elaborate plot ridicules Victorian sensibilities with some of the best loved, and indeed bizarre, characters to be found on the modern stage.

The play will be performed Oct. 26 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. and OCt. 28 and 29 at 2 p.m. in the high school theater.ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Online ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. on Oct. 1.
