Upper St. Clair To Host Panel On Vaping

The discussion will focus on the dangers of vaping and the growing number of teens who vape.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair will hold a panel discussion next month on the dangers of vaping. The program, which will occur Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Boyce Mayview Park Community & Recreation Center, is free and open to the public.

The panel will include:

• Dan Boucek – Internal Medicine Physician
• Sean Bryson – Chief of School Police, Upper St. Clair School District.
• Dr. Hunaid Nulwala – Chemist.
• Jon Wharton – Chief of Police, Upper St. Clair Township Police.
• Michael Ventura – Sergeant, Upper St. Clair Township Police.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, nearly 40 percent of 12th grade students admit to having tried vaping. The permanent, deadly harm of e-cigarette use is just coming to light. The Youth Steering Committee will discuss how the community can combat this epidemic.

The Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair is a community action group, jointly appointed by township commissioners and school directors. The committee consists of adult residents, student representatives and liaisons from the appointing boards. Its mission is to involve the Upper St. Clair community in providing positive direction and support to the community’s
youth and their families.
