Upper St. Clair To Kick Off 2017-18 School Year With Community Pep Rally

Free inaugural start-of-school rally to benefit needy students.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Wasting no time in shifting back into school mode, the Upper St. Clair District will hold its first community pep rally on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at the high school stadium. The event is free and open to the community.

The event will be highlighted by competitions among the school’s fall varsity sports teams, including football; boys and girls cross country,golf and soccer; girls’ volleyball, tennis, field hockey, cheerleading and rowing. They’ll compete in the limbo, tug-of-war, pie eating and other activities.

Additionally, the high school marching band and cheerleaders will perform and the panther mascot will make an appearance. The Kona Ice Truck will sell refreshments, and 2017-18 USC athletic passes also will be available for purchase.

Those attending are asked to drop off back-to-school supplies to support The Education Partnership, a local nonprofit that provides them to students and classrooms in need. Donation boxes will be located at stadium entrances to receive pencils, 24-pack crayons, eight pack markers, one subject spiral notebooks, standard glue sticks, scissors, two-pocket folders, 150 sheet filler paper packs, copy paper (500 sheets per ream), scotch tape, cap erasers, jumbo erasers, and pencil sharpeners. Backpacks also can be donated.
