Upper St. Clair Man Charged With DUI

An Upper St. Clair man is headed to trial on DUI charges.

An Upper St. Clair police officer reported in a criminal complaint filed with district Judge Robert Wyda's office that he pulled over Robert R. Gostic, 39, for speeding in November. The officer was performing traffic enforcement near the Marosz Station on Washington Road.

The officer stated he smelled alcohol on Gostic's breath. Gostic told the officer he drank at the Pittsburgh Steelers game and failed a field sobriety test, according to the complaint.

Gostic's blood alcohol content was measured at .154 percent. In Pennsylvania, the legal blood alcohol content is .08 percent.

Gostic is also facing charges for having a suspended and expired driver's license and speeding. The officer stated he was going 62 MPH in a 40 MPH zone.

Gostic has one prior DUI, according to the complaint.

Hit-and-Run Case

William Ellis Myers, 28, of Canonsburg, is charged with one count of accident involving damage to attended vehicle and one count of driving while operating privilege is suspended.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Upper St. Clair police, Myers struck a vehicle turning right from Fieldgate Drive onto Washington Road, as he was turning left from Village Drive onto Washington Road.

Police stated Myers and the victim argued on a side street and agreed to move to a nearby church parking lot and call police. That's when Myers allegedly drove away from the scene and the victim drove to report the incident to the Upper St. Clair police. The victim gave police Myers' license plate number.

Myers has a suspended driver's license and seven prior violations of driving under suspension as well as leaving the scenes of accidents, according to the complaint.

Theft Case

Maria Elizabeth Brentin, 21, of Scott Township, is headed to trial on one count of retail theft, one count of prohibited acts and one count of possessing heroin.

Brentin is accused of stealing more than $200 worth of underwear from Sears on Jan. 2. A Sears loss prevention officer found six stamped bags of suspected heroin on Brentin, according to a criminal complaint.
