Upper St. Clair Man's Paintings Featured in Hollywood Movie

Resident at Friendship Village of South Hills Showcases his Artwork in The Perks of Being a Wallflower Movie

Every day you can find Dan Winters with a paint brush and watercolors in hand. Most recently, his paintings have been of the landscapes surrounding his Upper St. Clair apartment home at Friendship Village of South Hills, a senior living community. Over his eight decades of doing artwork, he’s seen his masterpieces displayed in calendars, art shows and even hit Hollywood movies.

He developed his artistic talent as a child. He was so gifted, that he was handpicked to take art classes with the likes of Andy Warhol at Carnegie Mellon University when he was just 12 years old.

Dan continued his artwork, even while fighting in the Korean War and later during his career as an attorney. Throughout the years, he taught his fellow co-workers how to paint at conventions and expos. In 2012, his artwork caught the eye of Upper St. Clair native and movie director Stephen Chbosky, who featured Dan’s artwork in the film The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
