Upper St. Clair Native Eliminated From Bravo TV Show
Nevin James was the first of 12 contestants to be sent home.

The Memorial Day weekend ended in disappointment for a number of Upper St. Clair residents.Â
Nevin James, a graduate of , was the first contestant sent home from the new Bravo reality TV show, Platinum Hit.
The first challenge was to write the hook for a song. Judges Jewel and Kara DioGuardi said James' song sounded like Elton John's "Candle in the Wind."

James was later picked to be on a team with Scotty Granger and Brian Judah to collaborate and create a song around Granger's hook.

The judges were no more forgiving. Head judge Kara DioGuardi called James' lyrics "amateur."
In a video on Bravo's website following the show, James said he wished he would have spoken up more to improve Granger's lyrics.
"I should have pushed harder to just change the way we sang the chorus, I was never thrilled about the chorus," James said.
However, James said he has no regrets.
"Getting here is the cool part," James said. "Exposure is why we are all here.
"I had to sit down and play in front of Jewel. That's not something you do every day. It's very humbling."
James' new album, Jealousy, is scheduled to be released after the show's season in the fall.
