Upper St. Clair Only Pennsylvania's 25th-Best Suburb, Study Says

Report by Niche.Com ranks eight Allegheny County suburbs ahead of the township.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The township is renowned for its low crime rate, dedicated local businesses, an efficient municipal government, high-caliber school district and quality civic spaces.

But is Upper St. Clair really only the 25th best suburb in Pennsylvania?

A report released on Wednesday by Niche.com, a website that analyzes neighborhoods, colleges and schools say it is. Using statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and other sources, Niche concluded eight Allegheny County suburbs offer a higher quality of life than Upper St. Clair.

Ranked ahead of the township was Franklin Park (4); Mt. Lebanon (5); O’Hara (10); Marshall (12); Bradford Woods (14); Edgeworth (17); Fox Chapel (19) and Aspinwall (23).

Among the factors Niche considered in ranking a community: cost of living, housing values and costs, public schools, shortest commutes, ethnic and economic diversity, crime rate, employment rate, nightlife, outdoor activities and weather.
