Upper St. Clair Police Garner AAA Safety Award

The department earns honors for its traffic safety promotion.

The has earned AAA East Central's bronze award for its community traffic safety efforts.

The department is recognized this month with more than 40 other Pennsylvania police agencies for roadway safety enforcement. The awards are given annually to community police departments that conduct traffic safety promotions and educate the public on safety topics.

The bronze award is the fourth highest recognition to be given in the program. Other bronze awards were given to Avalon, Carroll Township, Cochranton, Charleroi, Conway, Cumberland, Jeannette, Kittanning, Ligonier, Murrysville, Perryopolis, Rankin, Southwest Greensburg and Wilkinsburg Police Departments. Greene County Sheriff’s Department also received a bronze award.

The highest award was the platinum award given to Pennsylvania State Police Troops A (Greensburg), B (Washington), D (Butler), E (Meadville), and T (Somerset); Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department; Allegheny County, Baldwin, Bellevue, Brentwood, Cambridge Springs, Canonsburg, Castle Shannon, , , Edgewood, Findlay, Greensburg, Homestead, Indiana, Lower Burrell, McDonald, Meadville, Millcreek, Mount Lebanon, New Sewickley, , , Pittsburgh, Punxsutawney, Shaler, South Strabane, Swissvale and Washington Police Departments.

AAA Safety Adviser J.J. Miller said departments that earned the award "went above and beyond the call of duty," organizing community traffic safety projects.
