Upper St. Clair School District Hires Human Resources Director
A well-known township resident has been hired for the newly created position.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The Upper St. Clair School District has hired Ray Hunter Carson Jr. to serve as its first director of human resources. Carson, an Upper St. Clair High School graduate and a township residents, begins his new job in August.
Carson has more than 26 years of human resources experience for large corporations including Highmark Health Inc., in Pittsburgh; Wyeth, a pharmaceutical company in Madison, N.J.; and M&M/Mars, a global consumer package goods company in Hackettstown, NJ.
Human resource duties previously were shared among the superintendent and two assistant superintendents. With former superintendent Patrick O’Toole’s recent retirement and replacement by former assistant superintendent John Rozzo, an assistant superintendent position was eliminated the the human resources position was created.
“With more than 500 employees and multiple labor contracts, we needed an experienced professional with expertise in personnel matters,” Rozzo said in a district release. “We are confident that Mr. Carson will effectively lead our human resources department.”
Carson has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from West Virginia University and a master’s degree in liberal arts/human resources from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He serves on the board of directors for Make-a-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia as well as the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association. He previously served on the boards of the Urban League of Greater Western Pennsylvania, Project for Freedom and Every Child Incorporated.
Within the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association, Carson has volunteered his time as softball commissioner, community relations representative and coach for both softball and soccer.
