Upper St. Clair Student Honored For Volunteer Work
Krishna Sathya Vagheeswar was honroed by 412 Food Rescue.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - A Fort Couch Middle School seventh grader has been recognized for his community service efforts. Krishna Sathya Vagheeswar was awarded the Weekend Rescue Warrior Award from 412 Food Rescue, which honors the volunteer who completed the highest number of weekend rescues in 2019.
Krishna was presented the award during the organizationβs Hero Celebration on Jan. 16, 2020.
βThe engagement with 412FoodRescue started as a result of the curricular requirement for community service,β Sathya V. Venkatasubramanian, Krishnaβs father, said in a school district release. βBut Krishna has now developed a stronger motivation to be part of the movement.β

According to the organizationβs website "412 Food Rescue works with local food businesses and retailers (grocery stores, restaurants, wholesalers, farmerβs markets, etc.) by rescuing their surplus food and transporting it directly to nonprofit and community based organizations (shelters, family support centers, housing authority sites, etc.) where the food is provided to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.β
