USC Native Helps Team USA Advance to Gold-Medal Game

Upper St. Clair native Vincent Trocheck helped Team USA advance to the gold-medal game on Thursday.

Trocheck scored one goal in USA's 5-1 win over rival Canada in Ufa, Russia.

Other Pittsburgh-area players had big impacts on the outcome of the semifinal win. Goalie John Gibson, a Whitehall native, had 33 saves during the game; J.T. Miller, of Coraopolis, had two assists; and Riley Barber, of Washington, PA, had one goal.

USA will face Team Sweden in the gold-medal game at 8 a.m. on Saturday on the NHL Network and live streamed on NHL.com.

Trocheck signed with the Florida Panthers in April 2012.
