USC Schools Make Spring Break Decision, Set 2018-19 Calendar
Many families requested the district have no classes the day after Easter. Find out here what the district decided.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The current school year still has more than a quarter of the way go, but the Upper St. Clair School District already has finalized its 2018-19 calendar.
The school year will begin on Monday Aug. 27. Students’ last day of school is slated for Tuesday June 11 if no snow make-up days are necessary. The high school commencement is set for Thursday June 6.
Winter break will run from Dec. 24. through Jan. 1 and spring break will start on April 15 and run until April 22. To the disappointment of many, the district will not be off the day after Easter.
“We received considerable feedback from families requesting to have off the Monday after Easter,” superintendent Patrick O’Toole said in a statement “Unfortunately, PSSA testing limits our flexibility for that day.”

The district has no control over the PSSA testing window, which the Pennsylvania Department of Education sets.
School directors countered that bad news for next year with good news for this year: one of two school cancellations due to inclement weather has been forgiven. That still makes Friday May 25 a regular school day, but barring any other cancellations, the last day of school will remain Tuesday June 12.
