USC Schools: March Snow Day Won't Delay Start Of Summer Vacation
Students will have to make up only one snow day this year.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Last month’s unexpected snowstorm won’t delay summer vacation for Upper St. Clair students. The Upper St. Clair school board has “forgiven” the March 21 snow day, meaning the last day of school for students will remain June 12.
On March 21, the region was hit with an unexpected snowstorm that prompted many districts – including Upper St. Clair – to cancel classes. That marked the district’s third weather-related cancellation of the school year.
School will be in session on Friday, May 25 as the Memorial Day weekend gets underway. That will be the only snow day that will be made up. Last month, the school board also forgave one snow day.
How can the board do that? The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires school districts to have a minimum of 180 school days. Upper St. Clair schedules 183 student days, which provides flexibility with make-up days.
