WDVE's McDowell, Coach Render Among USC Halls Of Fame Inductees
The latest inductees to the Halls of Fame will be recognized in October.
UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Recently retired WDVE-FM DJ Sean McDowell and Jim Render, the winningest coach in WPIAL history, are among the 11 people who will be inducted into the Upper St. Clair High School Halls of Fame this year. The nine alumni and two retired teachers-coaches will be recognized at the annual induction ceremony at the Upper St. Clair football game on Oct. 4.
McDowell, 63, retired last month after spending four decades in radio in southwestern Pennsylvania and having hosted the WDVE afternoon show since 1993. He started his career at the former WYDD-FM in New Kensington in 1978 before moving to WTYK-FM in Washington and then to WRRK-FM, where he spent 13 years before joining DVE.
Render coached in Ohio and at Uniontown High School before coming to Upper St. Clair, where he spent 40 seasons. He is the lone WPIAL coach to notch 400 wins, something only 29 other high school football coaches in America have accomplished.
