Woman Caught on Video Stealing Twice from South Hills Village Sears, Police Say

A 31-year-old woman's preliminary hearing at the Upper St. Clair Township-Bethel Park magistrate's office on Monday for two counts of retail theft was waived for Allegheny County Court.

Jessica Rae Caserta-Jones of Dunlevy Borough, Washington County, will now face those charges at a formal arraignment on Sept. 27.

According to court documents, an Upper St. Clair police officer went to the Sears at South Hills Village at around 3:24 p.m. on July 30 to find Caserta-Jones, who had been apprehended by loss prevention officers claiming that she tried to steal a $49.50 bottle of perfume from the store that day.

The incident had been caught on security video, and Caserta-Jones also admitted to the attempted theft, according to court documents.

The loss prevention officers also provided police with video of a July 6 incident that they claim shows Caserta-Jones stealing a $22 pair of sunglasses from the store. She was able to elude the officers on that date, but on July 30, she admitted to that theft, as well, police say.

Caserta-Jones had been on probation in Washington County for previous incidents, according to court documents, so constables from that county took custody of her on July 30 after she was processed by Upper St. Clair police.

More Retail Theft at Sears

Thomas Allan Baily, 44, of Monongahela Township, Greene County, who was charged with stealing $180 in tools from the South Hills Village Sears in mid-January, pleaded guilty on Monday at the local magistrate's office to the theft and paid restitution, according to court documents.

Baily completed a retail theft class in June, as well.
