$40K In Donations Given To Centennial Education Foundation

The donations from local businesses will help fund unique educational programs in the Warminster-based school district.

WARMINSTER, PA —The Centennial Education Foundation has received more than $40,000 in donations from local businesses through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.

“These generous donations go a long way towards supporting our mission”, said Carolyn Fisher,
foundation vice president and one of the two remaining original board members. “We can help so many students in our district with educational experiences that school tax dollars don’t cover.”

The funds will directly support grants that teachers in the district apply for and help the foundation boost unique learning programs.

For instance, in December, the 7th grade at Klinger Middle School held a “Cookie War” competition where student teams competed in a collaboration between the STEM and Family Consumer Science classes.

Students designed their own cookie cutters, and their displays, baked cookies, and then presented them to a panel of judges.

Among the donors were $35,000 from Hatboro Federal Savings, $4,000 from Waste Management, $2,500 from QNB Bank, and $1,500 from Weis Markets.

“Raising funds for the Foundation can be very challenging. Every dollar counts and, in many instances, goes a long way to creating programs that the community may not be aware exist. These amazing donations will help us make kids smile,” said Jennifer Schultz, the foundation's executive director.

The Centennial School District is made up of Davis Elementary, McDonald Elementary, Willow Dale Elementary, Log College Middle School, Klinger Middle School, and William Tennent High School. It serves more than 5,000 students.

“Hatboro Federal is proud to continue to contribute to the Centennial Education Foundation,” said Linda Roehner, the bank's president and chief executive officer. “Our focus is to select schools and organizations that strive to prepare our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow. Educating, illuminating, and empowering today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders. It’s a legacy that Hatboro Federal is proud to embody and share with the communities that we serve."
