BUCKS COUNTY, PA —It's the month for love, groundhogs, presidents, and hopes that spring is coming soon.

February is always the shortest month of the year. With Leap Year, this is the longest February in four years. But it might not be a longer winter now that Punxsutawney Phil issued his forecast Friday that an early spring awaits.

While it's still winter, you can get warm and sample some of the best chili in the region in New Hope on Sunday. The day before, just over the Delaware River in Lambertville, N.J., renowned contemporary pop artist Perry Milou presents a live painting event.

While Punxsutawney may be some ways away from Bucks County, that doesn't mean Groundhog Day education has to end. The Churchville Nature Center in Northampton Township is featuring a walk on Sunday in which people can seek out groundhogs and learn about their shadows.

Groundhog Nature Walk At Churchville Nature Center

Naturalist and Assistant Director Peg will lead the Groundhog & Shadows Nature Walk from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the Churchville Nature Center in Northampton Township. Search for the slumbering mammals and learn why the shadows are long this time of year because of the Earth’s rotation and its distance from the sun. Attendees will walk the trail to find their hibernation dwellings and maybe dispel a myth or two. This is a free event but registration is required.
