The story of Heidi Barke illustrates this commitment to career growth. After a successful advertising and marketing career, Heidi pursued her passion for fitness. She completed the American Council on Exercise Training and Personal Training Certification from the American College of Sports Medicine and began teaching fitness classes. When her husband’s job brought them to Pennsylvania, Heidi joined Ann’s Choice as a part-time fitness specialist, eventually
transitioning to a full-time role.
“I enjoyed teaching various classes like aquatics and personal training, but I wanted more mental engagement,” Heidi recalls. This curiosity led her to explore other opportunities within the community. She learned about a facilities coordinator position, which she transitioned into, staying in the role for two years.

Heidi then applied for her current position as re-occupancy manager, where she mentors team members, streamlines operations, and promotes professional development. “I’m passionate about helping others grow. I’ve created an internal team to identify opportunities where team members can explore different departments and expand their skills,” she shares.
In July 2024, Heidi helped organize the Ann’s Choice Career Expo. The event featured ambassadors from each department who shared insights and enthusiasm about their roles. “Finding a job you truly love is rare,” Heidi said. “I value the support and opportunities I’ve found here.”
Beyond career expos, Erickson Senior Living communities offer online and in-person training, Individual Development Plans, mentorship programs, and financial support for education, including college, trade schools, and certifications.
These resources reflect Erickson Senior Living’s commitment to empowering team members to grow their careers while enriching the lives of residents.
