Are Eagles Winning Ways Ending?: This Week In Philly Sports
Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman may be starting the process to retool the team with an eye toward the future instead of this season.
PHILADELPHIA — The winning ways and days of the Philadelphia Eagles could be coming to a close this year.
General Manager Howie Roseman may be thinking about the future, trying to make over a team for the third time and take them to the Super Bowl once again.
It might not be with Coach Nick Sirianni and Quarterback Jalen Hurts nor with many of the familiar faces that were on the roster for the Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs just a few years ago.

The Eagles stand at 2-2 going into their game in London against a strong Jacksonville Jaguars team. Meanwhile, players are dropping like flies, either from injuries, retirement, or by trade.
The sudden retirement of two-time Super Bowl winner Lane Johnson sent Philly fans into a tizzy to lose the longtime fan favorite and one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Then came Roseman deciding to dip another foot into the future.
He shipped oft-injured Super Bowl Center/Guard Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens in a steal of a deal that netted a second-round pick right after Johnson's retirement news.
And if the Birds continue to fumble the season away, Roseman may work some more magic in dumping old players with big contracts for salary cap relief and a slew of draft picks.
Don't think of the Philadelphia Eagles as rebuilding. Roseman may just be retooling.
The offensive line has been revamped now with only Jordan Mailata now as the mainstay along with guard Tyler Steen.
This season, the Birds have introduced Drew Kendall at center, started rookie Markel Bell in place of Johnson and will debut new left guard Willie Lampkin for Jurgens on Sunday.
You won't find many teams that revamp their offensive line during the season.
If the Eagles are drowning by the trade deadline, expect Roseman to make more moves and shed veterans that might boost another team's playoff chances.
Tight ends Dallas Goedert could be a candidate and so could running back Saquon Barkley. Imagine that?
Hurts is probably sticking around to see if he can show he's worth a contract extension. Otherwise, Roseman may go after QB1 in a deep NFL draft next year and maybe try to steal Arch Manning.
Roseman is focusing on the new core of the franchise and most of that is on defense.
He will sign Cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to long-term deals just like he did with Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.
On offense, there's Wideout Devonta Smith, first round pick Makai Lemon, trade addition Dontayvion Wicks, and second round pick Eli Stowers.
These eight players may be the core to develop and build around in the future.
The Birds aren't out of anything yet, especially in a weak NFC East. But this team is one of the weakest in years, maybe even a decade.
Just like when the team went from Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz/Nick Foles to Sirianni and Hurts, Roseman was able to make the transition without missing a beat.
He may be able to work his magic once again for another Super Bowl run. It just might not be this year.
