Community Alert: Designer Drugs in Warminster

A few days ago a friend informed me I needed to watch an episode of Dateline entitled "The Hansen files."  She informed me that this new designer drug had made its way to Warminster and someone needed to get the word out so here I am!

This new drug is called "BATH SALTS."  Now if you're like me the first thing you think of is bath salts....they go in the bathtub!  You would be wrong!  These "bath salts" are not intended for the tub at all.  They are intended to be snorted, melted down and shot into a vein, or even mixed in a drink with the sole purpose of getting high.  Most are made up of MDVP aka methylenedioxypyrovalerone.  Yeah...I know what you're thinking...what the heck is that?

By marketing these new designer drugs that come in many names as "bath salts" and labeling them "not for human consumption" they have avoided being made illegal.  Now anyone who is selling them or making them knows 100 percent they are being purchased as a drug for the sole purpose of getting high.  These outlets have this drug flying off the shelves and these manufacturers are making hundreds of thousands a day off  kids and families and it's time to stop them.

Effects of this drug range from paranoia, hallucinations, suicide and so many more.  They are the "replacements" for things like ecstasy, xanax, meth, cocaine and who knows what else and perfectly legal right now in Warminster, Bucks County.  These are some very scary stimulants available to our kids right here...right now!

I heard that QUALITY GAS STATION located @ 288 York Rd, Warminster was selling these packets at a high rate to kids in our neighborhood so I decided to check for myself.  I was floored at the owner's reaction and I hope you will be just as disgusted as I was.

I went in the station this morning to see for myself.  There they were in plain view behind the counter ranging in price from $13 to over $50.  They were in packets shaped much like the packets rubberbands come in from the orthodontist in varying colors and textures.  Most were foil packets with wacky names on the front just waiting for the area kids to come and get'em! 

I asked the clerk if those were the "bath salts" and he replied yes and asked which ones I wanted.  I firmly told him no way was I buying them but I wanted to know why they sold them.  His reply was that the owner "Barry" sells them in the store and they are legal.  I asked if he knew that kids and adults buy them with the sole purpose of getting high.  He stated "yes." 

I told the clerk that they should not be selling them and he agreed but told me I should tell the owner who happened to be outside at the gas pumps.

I approached Barry outside and the clerk spoke to him rapidly in their language rapidly to fill him in.  I asked Barry why on earth he'd sell that stuff when he knows darn well people are buying it to get high.  He told me it was legal and he could sell it.  He stated that he makes good money from the sale and since there is a demand he sells it!  I asked him if he had any morals or values.  He declined to answer.  I think I already know!  He asked me why I care.  My reply is simple.  I am a mother.  I care about my kids, all kids and all people because that’s the way it should be.

I am asking each one of you to boycott Quality Gas Station and make your voice heard.  We as parents need to protect our kids from poachers like this business owner.  I don’t care if these drugs are slipping by the government.  I don’t care if they are legal.  We need to make our opinions heard in Warminster and for that matter in the state of Pa.  Contact your government officials and let them know the red tape prohibiting the sale of this crap needs to be cut out and get them off the streets and stores!

Other counties and towns in Pa. Have deemed BATH SALTS  a public nuisance.  I say Warminster needs to do this too….right now before one of our kids, one of our friends isn’t here with us anymore!  This drug has been blamed for many suicides in recent months.  Let your voices be heard and make a stand!

Lastly we need to inform the governing body of Warminster that this will not be tolerated in our community.  Please contact the board of supervisors and let our voices be heard!
