WARMINSTER, PA —The place is clean, the people are friendly and the meat is piled high on the hoagie roll.

It's also how Eric and Jen West roll.

The Doylestown couple has opened up Bucks Hoagie Shop at 614 York Rd. in the Warminster Plaza, replacing Lee's Hoagie House. The business opened a few days before the Fourth of July.

On this Monday, Jen happily works the counter, taking calls and in-person orders with a friendly smile and the warmth of someone who seems to appreciate every customer who walks through the door.

For 15 years, Eric operated the same business in Huntingdon Valley before selling it in January and moving operations to Warminster, which is a little closer to home for the family.

After signing a lease on June 1, the couple was fast at work trying to reform the old Lee's Hoagie House property.

The couple added new equipment and new furniture and some new paint too.

"It's much brighter and welcoming and clean," Jen told Patch during a recent visit to the shop. "We've recently received some really good feedback and reaction."

There's also a new menu.

While the menu features salads and wraps, cheesesteaks, and hot sandwiches, it is after all a hoagie shop. You can also find homemade pepper shooters.

Eric said he likes to cater his classic and specialty hoagies to provide a taste of South Philly.

He takes great pride in offering the finest quality ingredients, prepared fresh to order every day. West said he makes his hoagies with Boar's Head meats and cheeses, and the hoagie is usually a helping heap of both.

West said he also uses a local market, Tanner Brothers in nearby Northampton Township, for his produce.

His hoagies have some interesting names too: There's "The Zach," and "The Allie," —for his children —and the Bucks Special, which features corned beef, roast beef, or homemade turkey, served with Swiss cheese, Russian Dressing, and creamy coleslaw.

There's also the "York and Street," named after the intersection where Warminster Plaza is near.

That hoagie offers homestyle turkey, prosciutto, roasted peppers, and sharp provolone.

West recommends the South Philly, a hoagie filled with capicola, Genoa salami, Hot Soppressata, and sharp provolone, topped with pepper shooters.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Customers can dine in or place takeout orders by calling the shop at 267-387-6973 or by ordering online at www.buckshoagieshop.com.
