Can The Philadelphia Eagles Go Undefeated? Philly Sports Chatter

PHILADELPHIA, PA —It's possible.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a shot of being the first team since the 2018 New England Patriots to have a perfect regular season.

Going into Week 9 of the NFL season, the Birds play prime time on "Monday Night Football" against the Carson Wentz-less Washington Commanders.

Led by Quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles are the league's last remaining undefeated team. But how long can staying unbeaten last?

The Pittsburgh Steelers got to 11-0 in 2020 before falling to Washington. The Carolina Panthers went even further by going 14-0 in 2015 before losing to the Atlanta Falcons.

The New England Patriots pulled off a perfect regular season at 16-0 and won two playoff games in 2018 before losing in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants.

These Birds are giving new meaning to their motto "Fly Eagles Fly."

They've been soaring but it's like no one has been paying attention for the past month since the Philadelphia Phillies not only got to the playoffs but made it to the World Series before losing in Game 6 to the Houston Astros.

So now the Birds have our full attention again.

And a look at the remaining games on the schedule makes it seem like this undefeated regular season at least could happen.

The Birds play the Commanders so that game looks like a win.

Then there's the dreadful Indianapolis Colts, the struggling Green Bay Packers, the up-and-down Tennessee Titans, the revived New York Giants, the tricky Chicago Bears, the tough Dallas Cowboys, the erratic New Orleans Saints and those pesky Giants again.

The Eagles always seem to have the Giants number. The Colts, Bears and Saints should wind up as victories.

The dark horses are the Titans and whether Aaron Rodgers can get the Pack back on track.

And, of course, Dallas always poses to be the biggest challenge.

The rest of the season should have us on the edge of our seats as fans now as the Birds try to pull off that rare act.

First, let's get that perfect season. And, like the Phillies found out, anything can happen in the playoffs. Like another Super Bowl victory.
