Centennial Education Foundation Gets $5,000 From Giant, Martin's Grocery Stores

The Centennial Education Foundation received several thousand dollars from Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets as part of the stores' participation in Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.

CEF received $5,000 from the stores, while 16 other education foundations in Pennsylvania received funds as well, totaling $100,000 in donations.

The EITC program encourages eligible businesses to contribute to scholarship organizations or educational improvement organizations within the Commonwealth to receive tax credits and Giant/Martin's has participating in the program for over 10 years, the company said.

“This year’s $100,000 donation is one of many ways GIANT/MARTIN’S is proud to support schools within our local communities,” Giant/Martin's President Tom Lenkevich said in a statement. “In addition to EITC donations, our A+ School Rewards school fundraiser provides millions for local school programs and supplies annually.”

“Our store teams also welcome thousands of students into our stores each year to take part in our Kid Healthy Ideas store tours,” Lenkevich said in the statement. “It’s another way we’re committed to being a Better Neighbor throughout the school year.”

The CEF is separate from the Centennial School District and seeks to secure resources from individuals, corporations, community organizations and other foundations to be distributed in support of programs that benefit students in the Centennial School District.
