Richard B. Lewis, the award's namesake, was a visionary leader in audiovisual instruction and innovative teaching methodologies. He played a pivotal role in pioneering audiovisual and instructional television services, leaving a lasting impact on the educational technology landscape, school officials said.

Centennial School District was selected for its systemic adoption and increased utilization of our learning management system, Canvas.

“The CSD team heeded the call to prepare our students for their increasingly digital futures," said Kristen Herman, the district's digital and online learning coordinator.

Herman led the charge to "significantly expand" students' post-pandemic, online, and digital learning opportunities, school officials said.

"What sets CSD apart from peer districts is its centering of faculty as digital designers, best able to create online learning experiences that support students socially, emotionally, and academically," Herman added.

Schools Superintendent Dr. Dana T. Bedden thanked the school board for approving recommendations associated with this initiative.

"I'm proud of our staff, students, and the entire team for their efforts and this recognition of their work," Bedden said. "Centennial School District's commitment to advancing technology integration and media utilization is a testament to the school district’s dedication to providing a high-quality and innovative education for our students. This recognition exemplifies our district staff’s leadership and vision in the field of educational technology.”
