Delaware River Overflows In Bristol Borough

BRISTOL BOROUGH, PA —Tidal flooding of the Delaware River hit the borough on Thursday due to the heavy rainfall Wednesday and over the past few days, borough officials said.

Borough officials asked residents not to remove or go around any barricades that may be in place for safety purposes.

The National Weather Service of Mount Holly/Philadelphia said that the coastal flooding hit a high Thursday morning, especially in the Bristol Wharf area where residents posted pictures on a Facebook community page of submerged cars and the iconic Bristol Pavilion taking on flooding.

The water even reached some buildings, according to some Facebook posts.

Actions News 6 had its chopper over Basin Street showing cars and trucks in a nearby parking lot taking on a decent amount of water. See the video here.

The National Weather Service said that flooding usually begins on Radcliffe Street and Mill Street in Bristol.

According to the weather service's Advanced Hydrolic Prediction Service, the coastal flooding should recede over the next few days.
