Do You Miss These Restaurants From Childhood?

We asked Warminster Patch followers which restaurants that are now gone you loved as a child. You had plenty of thoughts.

WARMINSTER, PA — Last week, we asked Warminster Patch followers on Facebook which restaurants from their childhoods they missed the most. And ... well ... you had plenty of thoughts.

In all, 113 Warminster folks responded with their memories of eating out as a kid and the spots they remember fondly that are no longer around any more. Here's a look at some of the dearly departed restaurants that got the most love:

  • The Ground Round. Lots of people said they missed this casual-dining and steakhouse chain where, according to an old commercial (thanks, YouTube!) you could get a sirloin steak dinner for $3.99. It was founded in 1969 by Howard Johnson. There are now only 22 locations left. But, hey, if the nostalgia bug bites you, the nearest one to Warminster is just down the road in Langhorne.
  • Gino's. A lot of you miss having the regional favorite nearby.
  • Chi-Chi's. Some of you still recall this Mexican chain fondly, even though it folded in America after a 2003 Pittsburgh-based Hepatitis A outbreak traced to its green onions left four people dead and more than 660 sickened. The chain still exists overseas.
  • Inn Flight. Several of you were fondly remembering this seafood and steakhouse in Colmar.
  • Weiner King. What's not to love about a foot-long and fries?

Other places that got at least a couple of mentions included: Roy Rogers, Denny's, Italian Delight, The Hub, Julie's, The Spaghetti Pot, Burger Chef and Frankie & Johnny's.
