Friends Village offers community living rooted in purpose, belonging and choice. Blending Quaker values and active aging, we promote connection and care for one another. Our residents live well, engaged with the wider world and confident they will have support should they need it. Located on two campuses, Friends Village provides independent living and personal care in peaceful settings embedded in residential neighborhoods. Our Paxson Campus is in the heart of Newtown Borough, close to shops, dining and local events. Our Styer Campus, on Lower Dolington Road, boasts raised-bed gardens and walking paths for resident enjoyment. The full calendar of resident-informed programming features lectures, wellness classes, discussion groups and cultural events to promote residents’ intellectual, physical and social well-being. If needed, Friends Village provides our residents with flexible, affordable support in their own apartments through its NeighborCare program. By using our long-tenured and dedicated staff, it is a home care service without the onerous minimum hours or uncertain staffing of agencies. And if care needs increase further, personal care is available in our historic Paxson Hall. What truly sets Friends Village apart is the warm sense of community. While residents remain connected outside of our walls, our small size and intentional approach ensure that each resident is known and know that they genuinely belong – they thrive, make new friends and live well. Doylestown Tigers Earn Bid to 12U Cal Ripken World Series
The Doylestown Tigers – bound by Brotherhood and a One Team mentality – have earned their spot on an international stage in Branson, Missouri this August
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — July 23, 2026 — With great excitement, the Doylestown Athletic Association announces that the 12U Doylestown Tigers baseball team have earned a merit-based invitational bid to represent Pennsylvania at the 2026 Cal Ripken World Series in Branson, Missouri, this August. This is one of the highest honors a Cal Ripken team can achieve and recognizes the team as one of the most elite 12U baseball teams nationally and internationally.
The Tigers enter as two-time NE PA State Champions, three-time District 4 Champions, 2022 Cal Ripken Mid-Atlantic Regional Finalist, 2022 World Series Semifinalists and 2024 Cal Ripken Aberdeen Tournament Champions. But the story is as much about the group as the rankings: the same core team of players have competed together for five seasons, building a culture the program calls “One Team, One Brotherhood.”
“Twelve players working together are far stronger than any one or two players could ever be on their own,” said Coach Larry Scheetz. “There are no guarantees in baseball — you can have talent, work hard, and still never earn a spot like this. This opportunity is a reflection of the character, work ethic, and brotherhood these boys have built together. They deserve every bit of it.”
The Tigers will represent both Pennsylvania and Doylestown at the World Series and appreciate the love and support from families, neighbors, and local businesses who have rallied behind the team’s journey. This will be the&nbsp;8th Annual Jack Duffy 5K Power Run and 1M Walk! It is held to honor and celebrate the life of Jack Duffy, a brilliant and kind young man and accomplished runner. Proceeds support youth mental health and suicide prevention.
The event will take place on SATURDAY, AUGUST 8 in Horsham, PA, starting and ending at the Hatboro-Horsham High School Stadium and continuing along the beautiful, paved Horsham Power Line Trail. Advanced online registration is open through August 7 and is discounted versus race day sign-up. A free t-shirt is available if registered by July 8. Pickup for bibs and shirts will be at&nbsp;check-in on race day beginning at 7:15 am, with the race starting promptly at 8:00.&nbsp;
