Fire Marshal Warns Of Burning In Warminster
Bucks County's Open Fire Burn Ban expired on Tuesday, but an ordinance prohibits open burning in the township.

WARMINSTER, PA —With Bucks County's open fire burn ban having expired on Tuesday, officials are alerting residents they still must adhere to the township's ordinance.
For Warminster Township, open burning, bonfires, and recreational fires are not allowed at any time.
The township's fire marshal said that portable outdoor fireplaces are allowed by ordinance.

"Because the terminology can be confusing, see our flyer that shows what is allowed and not allowed," the fire marshal said. "Keep in mind, the goal of the ordinance is Safety To Our Community First and to reduce uncontrolled fires, secondary fires caused by radiant heat, burn injuries, and excessive and unfiltered smoke."
In late November, the Bucks County Commissioners voted to extend its temporary burn ban through mid-December.

The ban, which went into effect on Oct. 27, prohibited open fires, including the incineration of garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, litter, paper, and other materials whether in burn barrels, fire rings, or on the ground.
The temporary ban was passed at the urging of top municipal fire officials from throughout Bucks County who requested the measure in response to the extended period of dry conditions affecting the area since late summer.
Under state law, a violation of the ban is a summary offense punishable by fines starting at $100 for a first offense.
