The store's gas rewards program has helped drivers take huge dents out of the price of gas.
In the short time since it has opened, the Giant gas station at Center Point Shopping Center has become a popular topic of conversation around town. The discussions all end with the same sigh of relief from having a little relief from the .
"There's no question that the response has been positive for our gas rewards promotions," said Giant spokesperson Chris Brand. "We started adding gas stations in February of 2006, and it has just taken off."

The Giant gas rewards program runs promotional periods that last for about seven to eight weeks. Over that time, customers with a Giant Rewards card can accumulate more savings at the pump by shopping in the store. For every 100 reward points gained, $.10 is taken off at the pump. Each week, there are also certain items that earn double points. With careful planning, a shopper can get the pump price down to as much as $.6 per gallon.
"We are well aware of the enthusiasm for the weekly circular," said Brand. "People count on that to create their shopping strategies and get the best values."

There are a few more caveats to know when you arrive to cash in those points. They are only good for up to 30 gallons, and the points do not roll over. Drivers are also not permitted to use more than one car or dispense the gas into containers.
"That is not authorized by us, nor is it very safe," said Brand.
