Historic Craven Hall to Hold Reenactment of John Fitch Steamboat Trials

Public Invited to witness Reenactment of John Fitch Steamboat Trials in Southampton PA

On Sunday, June 5th at 2:00 p.m., The Craven Hall Historical Society will commemorate John Fitch's Steamboat trials with the launching of their model steamboat on Upper Southampton Township park property. The property is located at Davisville and Street Roads. Access is off Davisville Road - south of Street Road.  Ample free parking is available. This event will take place regardless of weather conditions.

In 1785-86, this area was the site of a mill pond where Fitch conducted his experiments as documented in the History of Bucks County by W.W.H. Davis. While the Mill pond/dam are long gone, the remaining waterway gives visitors the opportunity to commemorate John Fitch's achievements that led to the operation of the world's first commercial steamboat service on the Delaware in 1790.

Historic Craven Hall and the associated John Fitch Steamboat Museum, is located at the corner of Street and Newtown Roads in Warminster, PA. For further information, please contact Craven Hall at 215-675-4698 or visit their website at http://www.craven-hall.org
