Longtime Warminster Resident Killed In Freak Accident Tuesday

Dan "BJ" Smookler lived in Warminster for much of his 29-year life. He was killed in a freak accident earlier this week in Doylestown.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a mechanic and longtime Warminster resident who was killed in a freak accident earlier this week.

Dan "BJ" Smookler, 29, a mechanic at the Liberty Gas Station in Doylestown, was killed Dec. 18 after an unoccupied car ran him over. According to the fundraiser, Smookler was helping a couple with a car problem when he was fatally injured.

Smookler was a Warminster resident for much of his life, before recently moving to Point Pleasant, Bucks County, his obituary said.

"He was an avid collector of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and a fine assortment of shoes and hats. He was a firearms enthusiast, daoist cowboy and all around boss," his obituary said.

The fundraiser was launched for his widow. So far, more than $9,500 has been raised. Click here to view the fundraiser.
