Man Sentenced For Knife Assault At Warminster Planet Fitness

WARMINSTER, PA — A man who violently attacked a woman who was sitting in her car outside a Warminster fitness club last June will serve up to 35 years in prison. Angel Ramos was sentenced Tuesday to serve 17 ½ to 35 years in state prison.

Ramos, 49, had pleaded guilty in March to multiple charges, including aggravated assault, indecent assault and terroristic threats in connection with the attack at the Center Point Place Shopping Center on West Street Road.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on June 6, 2016, when police say Ramos approached a woman sitting in her car outside Planet Fitness. The woman, who had just worked out, was in her 30s.

She told police she was text messaging when her car door opened and she saw Ramos holding a knife. He held the knife to her neck and she screamed, authorities said.

After threatening to kill her if she didn’t stop screaming, Ramos started kissing her and grabbing her breast, according to a probable cause affidavit. Ramos yelled “You’re gonna die,” and began stabbing her in the head and neck, according to the affidavit.

She was able to break free and ran back inside Planet Fitness.

During the sentencing, which the victim did not attend, Ramos apologized to her father-in-law and said he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the assault. “There’s nothing I can do; I’m sorry for this young lady,” he said.

Ramos has served extensive time in state prison for several drug-related convictions. He still faces rape charges in Philadelphia and a DUI charge in Montgomery County.
