More Than $103K In Unclaimed Property Returned In Lower Bucks
Pennsylvania's treasurer delivered the funds during two events in the same day in Warminster and Lower Southampton Township.
LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity has delivered more than $103,000 worth of unclaimed property in a single day to residents of Lower Bucks County during some recent events hosted by legislators.
“For the second year in a row, we’ve returned more than $100,000 to Bucks County residents in a single day,” Garrity said. “That’s amazing!"
Garrity appeared at events in Warminster and Lower Southampton Township on Aug. 9 that were hosted by State Sen. Frank Farry (R-6), and State Representatives Rep. Joe Hogan (R-142), Kristin Marcell (R-178), and K.C. Tomlinson (R-18).

“It was an honor having Treasurer Garrity here in the 6th Senate district sharing the great programs Treasury has to offer,” Farry said. “Many people do not know they have unclaimed property and being able to offer this service and finding over $100,00 for our constituents in one day is remarkable."
Farry encouraged residents who believe they may have unclaimed property to contact their local legislators for assistance.

“During my first term in office, we have helped to identify and return hundreds of thousands of dollars to its rightful owners,” Hogan said. “I am happy to see this money returned and will continue to make our community aware of this program and resource."
People were able to search for their unclaimed property at two events on Aug. 9, hosted in Lower Southampton Township and Warminster Township.
The events, organized by the legislators, offered constituents the opportunity to search for unclaimed property and learn about other programs offered by Treasury like the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program, Keystone Scholars, and PA ABLE. SEPTA and PennDOT also participated in the day’s events.
“Last year was so successful, we knew we needed to make this an every-year thing," Tomlinson said. "It was great to work alongside my colleagues and the treasurer to help our constituents claim what is rightfully theirs, especially at a time when every extra dollar helps.”
Unclaimed property can include things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks, insurance policies, and more. It can also include tangible items, such as the contents of forgotten safe deposit boxes.
Unclaimed property can be owed to individuals, businesses, government entities and nonprofit organizations.
Per state law, businesses must report property to Treasury after three years of dormancy.
“Events like these highlight the importance of connecting our constituents with valuable resources,” Marcell said. “I’m grateful to Treasurer Garrity and her team for their dedication to returning unclaimed property and for the opportunity to collaborate on such a meaningful initiative.”
