In Bensalem Township, two major projects were announced this past week.
Parx Casino has purchased a nearby hotel that it will renovate and upgrade to keep gamblers spending more time there. Meanwhile, the half-empty Neshaminy Mall has also drawn a buyer who has a track record of retail success in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Two new commercial improvements are coming to the busy Route 611 corridor in Doylestown Township. The Board of Supervisors approved preliminary as final plans for a car wash at 1796 Easton Road and the redevelopment of the former Applebee’s site into three restaurant pad sites at the Barn Plaza. NorthPoint Development Project Plans Shift In Falls Township
Plans for the NorthPoint Development Project have changed. Falls Township Supervisors recently approved a shift in NorthPoint Development’s previously authorized plans for Building 20 of the 1,800-acre U.S. Steel redevelopment project. The board had granted final land development approval for the developer to construct a 267,000-square-foot building as part of the multi-phase Keystone Trade Center project. Parx Casino Buys Bensalem Hotel, Plans Renovations, Upgrades
Parx Casino is moving into the hotel business. Greenwood Racing Inc., the casino's parent company, announced Monday that a subsidiary has purchased The Inn at Fox Chase at 3327 Street Rd. in Bensalem. Over the next 6 to 12 months, the 167-room hotel will be upgraded through an extensive renovation project, officials said. (Read this Patch story for more details.)

Perkins Rebranding Its Doylestown Restaurant With New Look, Menu
Perkins Family Restaurant and Bakery, founded more than 65 years ago as a pancake house, is rebranding under the name Perkins American Food Co. with a fresh brand identity and menu.
The rebranding, featuring a "vintage fresh" aesthetic and an "Americana vibe," will roll out to the company's 300 restaurants, including one in Doylestown, beginning later this year, Perkins President Toni Ronayne tells CBS MoneyWatch. (Read this Patch story for more details.)

Neshaminy Mall Sold To Company With Ties In Lower Bucks
The Neshaminy Mall —a longtime Lower Bucks County shopping mecca —has been sold to a company with ties already to Lower Bucks County and the Philadelphia region. The Bensalem Economic Development Corp. said the half-vacant Neshaminy Mall has a buyer with a settlement expected within the next month. The mall is being bought by Paramount Realty, which has offices in Lakewood, N.J., and Lancaster, Pa. (Read this Patch story for more details.)
